Botox before and after photos
A simple, FDA approved, non-surgical treatment, Botox® temporarily smoothes moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and counteracts creases and wrinkles around the forehead, brow, eyes and mouth. Botox is used to weaken facial muscles to help prevent wrinkles from worsening or, in some cases, slowly improve wrinkles that are already established.
The procedure typically takes 10 minutes and does not require any recovery time. The solution is injected using a small needle into the targeted muscle. The chemical blocks signals to the muscle and causes temporary paralysis which smoothes out the muscle. Results are not apparent immediately, but will be visible in 3 to 7 days. Minimal bruising or swelling may occur but will quickly resolve. Results vary depending upon the individual, but typically last up to 4 months.
What conditions can Botox improve?
- Expression related creases
- Crow’s feet or outer eye wrinkles
- Elevate eyebrows
- Forehead wrinkles
- Wrinkles on side of nose with expression
- Lines around the mouth when at rest
- Drooping corners of the mouth
When the proper technique is used, Botox can be an “eye opening” procedure actually lifting the brows and correcting eyelid droop making the eyes appear larger. Used in conjunction with other fillers, it can also have a dramatic effect around the mouth. It has been reported that repeated Botox treatments can last progressively longer due to the chronic atrophy of the muscles.
Purtox and Reloxin are two new Botox-like products currently in FDA trials and may become available by the end of 2008.
Tidbit: Botox was the #1 non-surgical cosmetic procedure in 2007 with over 2.7 million procedures reported. This is a 4000% increase over the last 10 years.
